Registered Nurse to work with a hospital in Riverton, WY.

Full-time, permanent position
Onsite in Riverton, WY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares patient for the physical examination, accurately updates required sections of patient medical record, measures and records vital signs
  • Screens calls, assesses and triages patients for the providers.
  • Keeps patient rooms adequately stocked.
  • Administers treatments, prescribed medication and procedures.
  • Helps patients in obtaining assistance for medication.
  • Performs blood draws and maintenance of internal venous access devices.
  • Records daily temperature log and download the data weekly for the Wyoming Immunization Program.
  • Completes Prior Authorization requests for medications, as needed. Refill patient medications per clinic standing order.
  • Obtains written consent from patients for procedures and minor surgeries and assists in surgery, cleaning, setting up and applying dressings.
  • Cleans and prepares all used surgical instruments for sterilization, as needed.
  • Obtains results of diagnostic tests or procedures and forwards to appropriate practitioners.
  • Uses all laboratory equipment; including but not limited to, microscope, centrifuge, etc.
  • Assists with physical examinations, well child and prenatal care.
  • Knowledgeable in medical asepsis and the OSHA standards for in-clinic procedures
  • Cleans and prepares exam rooms for patients and breaks down at the end of the day.
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens or performs basic laboratory tests on the premises and disposes of contaminated supplies.
  • Completes nursing team expectations list as posted for routine tasks
  • Monitors samples for expiration dates. Rotates stock as samples received. Distributes medication samples to patient per provider order and properly documents.
  • Completes daily narcotic count per policy.
  • Assists with completing nursing daily work queues
  • Performs NST, if certified
  • Administers IV push medications
  • Performs Medicare Annual Wellness Visits
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises one to three employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse in the State of Wyoming
  • Must possess communication skills to relate to the public in person
  • Demonstrate good organizational and leadership abilities
  • Basic computer skills necessary
  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to act as a patient advocate.
  • Ability to interact with patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
  • Ability to interact assertively and tactfully when dealing with conflict and in group solving activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, open minded approach in identifying problems and resolving problems/conflicts.
